Ever feel like you are literally DROWNING in cornets and trumpets? No? Then you are not me. I need to get rid of the under-played instruments from my basement. Some of themare great, some mediocre at best, but they all looked interesting at one time or another. Maybe they’ll be interesting for you too.
Trapped in a period-correct Olds Ambassador case is this early post WW2 LOS ANGELES-made OLDS ‘SPECIAL’ CORNET. The Special was the longest lived name in the Olds stable, lasting from the 1930s until the company’s demise in 1979. It earned the name— a Special was the Swiss army knife of Oldses, good enough to play anywhere, not so expensive that it put you in the poorhouse. This one (serial #6502x) is in decent shape for almost 75 years old— some lacquer wear where you hold it, and small dings along the bell backbend, but all valves and slides move, compression is good, and amazingly enough, it comes with its ORIGINAL WARRANTY REGISTRATION CARD. Musta been a trouble-free horn, if they never sent it in. There’s also an Olds lyre if you’re into marching, the correct Olds 3 mouthpiece, and the aforementioned case. If I find a lyre screw that works, I’ll include it. Low start bid of NINETY-NINE DAMN U.S. DOLLARS. Shipping is a flat FORTY THREE BUCKS in the CONUS, padded, boxed and insured.
THE FINE PRINT: NO RETURNS, this is old stuff here and is described as best as I can make it and take it (photos, that is). AK, HI PR buyers please wait for my invoice, as shipping will be higher. International shipping is through eBay GSP as far as I am concerned. Your use of sketchy drop-box re-shippers is AYOR and your business, not mine. No bidders with less than 10 positive feedback. Payment is due within 48 hours, please— this isn’t food or shelter, it’s to be purchased with money you have when you place your bid.
