    Description

This is an empty vintage soda acid fire extinguisher made by the Pyrene Co. of Newark, NJ for  the W. S. Nott Co. of Minneapolis, MN.  Pyrene made these extinguishers  with the Nott name from 1920 to 1940.  W.S. Nott Co. goes back to 1879 in Minneapolis and started making fire apparatus shortly after that.  The Nott Co. made some of the finest steamers and shipped them all over the world. I believe that the last piece of motorized fire apparatus made with a W. S. Nott  name on it was in 1940.  The Nott Co. is still in business today.  This extinguisher is a copper 2 1/2 gal. "RELIANCE" model and has the W.S. Nott name on it. The extinguisher has been polished and lacquered for years of care free enjoyment. It stands 24" tall and 7" in diameter. It has no dents and just some small dings on the right side just next to the label. In it's past life, someone made this into a lamp.  The hole on the top lid is filled in with a brass bolt and on the top domed portion on the right side, a hole where a switch was has been filled in with soldier.   As you can see in the pictures, it displays very well.  Now you may not have a Nott rig as old as the one pictured, but this would make a great addition to a vintage W.S. Nott rig. Please check out my other items I have listed.
