There seems to be little to go by on the internet about the Supa-Metal Martin trumpet, at least that I could locate. There is a good company history on (Trumpet-History doht com) that touches briefly on this model.
This trumpet is engraved "Handcraft" / "New Master Model" with very nice patterning from the rim to the valve set. This trumpet #9930* is a .453 bore Dansant model instrument built between 1929 and 1932. Built to play in both Bf and A
All of the work performed on this trumpet took place during my days at Pettifor's Inc. The work was performed around the 2007-08 time period. The re-cutting of the original pattern engraving was performed by Sherry at Artistic Engraving, the valve work was performed by Dave at Anderson's Silver Plating. All of which were/are located in Elkhart Indiana.
I purchased this horn years ago. All of the parts are what was original when I first got it. There are 4 diamond-shaped nickel pieces soldered to the valve set that was there when I picked it up, the base metal did not look to be worn around it and I did not remove them during the work process so I am unsure if these were added or if they were original to the instrument? The lead pipe and tuning slide were in good condition as are the inside slide tubes. The instrument was in decent condition overall and did not have any major dents/damage nor did it have any telltale solder areas or look as if anything had been replaced prior. The condition of the engraving, serial number stamping and other aesthetics of the instrument when I first evaluated them also lead me to believe it was originally due to the way they looked. The valves however were pretty worm thus the valve work being done. As for the engraving, I personally felt that it needed sharpened up as to achieve the cosmetic aspect of the instrument that we were know for and wanted to again archive. All in all the horn turned out very good especially for the age.
