Thomas Edison Autograph American Relief Administration RUSSIA Letter
A fabulous archive of 1920's Thomas Edison documents pertaining to The American Relief Administration (ARA), post WWI Russian Revolution aid, and Herbert Hoover with PSA / DNA certified Thomas Edison hand written signed note.
The collection starts with a September 28, 1921 dated commendation certificate, hand inscribed in Russian, and sent from the children of Christopol Russia to the American Relief Administration in appreciation of the food aid that they received from the organization. The certificate comes with a period typed English translation and mentions the children's admiration for great Americans such as Mark Twain and Thomas Edison.
    Excerpt from certificate:
"Particularly we love Mark Twain and Edison. The Tales of Mark Twain "The adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn" charms us. About Edison we know that this great old man has made many ingenious inventions for the welfare of mankind."
The American Relief Administration, an organization chaired by future US President Herbert Hoover, later sent the certificate with translation and cover letter to Thomas Edison as they thought he would enjoy seeing it. Cover letter dated December 28, 1923 from George Barr Baker.
ARA cover letter has a PSA / DNA authenticated signed note in the hand of Thomas Edison that reads
    "
Thank him for sending the commendation. They will not forget Hoover very soon"
    and signed
    "E"
    .
Also included is a January 3, 1924 dated hand written signed letter from Thomas Edison's secretary, William Henry Meadowcroft, to Mrs. Edison offering the documents as a souvenir:
"Would you care to have these papers for a souvenir?"
