This is an outstanding trumpet and a top-quality instrument that was made by E.K. Blessing for the new F.E. Olds. Olds was long known for his fantastic designs and great playing instruments. After the company was sold in 1980 the name was bought by a company in Illinois. Blessing was used to make them in Elkhart Indiana until 2015 when Powell flutes closed the Blessing plant and sold the name to St. Louis Music. SLM still produces horns with the Blessing name that retain a few of the old styles but they are now made overseas. The new Olds horns are also made overseas and they only make student horns now. Olds and Blessing made horns are still sought by student and pro players since they play so well. The serial number is H40457, which should date the horn to 2014. This horn is still NEW and I bought it from the Olds Company as an older model closeout to dealers. It is an intermediate model that they don't make anymore and the lead pipe is marked NLTR115. The horn is very close to the Powell designed Blessing BTR1580. The best thing about this horn is the great tone and intonation it has. The logo on the horn says:

It has a heavy silverplate finish and looks very much like a Bach Strad. The bell is 4 7/8” and projects well. I played this horn for a short time while setting it up to play from the box and it plays very well. The horn was lubed and then was polished. I put it together and checked it and added bumpers on the 1

slides. It really is a modern beauty that will play! It has a wonderful full clear tone, and a nice bright sound (Melanie said I sound great on this horn, lol, as always). It plays free and easy in all registers. It plays full and in tune from the bottom of the staff to the top. In my opinion it plays as well as any modern intermediate trumpet! There is a nice stop rod on the 3

valve slide that aren't found on a lot of the intermediate models. The valves are monel and run fast and smooth. The horn plays very full all the way into peddle tones. There are NO dents in any of the tubing and as we said earlier, this horn is NEW. I have tried to capture the engraving that is hard to read in the pictures. I really LOVE the sound of it and it can really play! The trumpet comes with a 7C mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is also NEW. This horn still carries a 10 year warranty from Olds when you send in the registration card. I am also matching it with a Protec hard sided case since the plastic ones don't last. The outside is black with and the inside is black colored plush. There is storage for one mouthpiece and a space outside for accessories. This is your chance - why spend upwards of 00 for a trumpet (Blessing has the BTR 1460 model now that goes for 50 at WWBW) when you can pick this up for a lot less than that?
