    Description

Here's a under-known gem in the Martin trumpet lineup:  the mid-50s Martin Imperial double-reverse tuning slide model.  This differs from the pre-war Imperial, which was a top-of-the-line horn, and also differs from the later student-level Imperial with the standard un-braced tuning slide.
This is a .453 M-bore horn and really gets most of the Committee sound and playability for a fraction of the price.  I've owned a great '50s Committee (also serviced by Josh Landress) and this particular Imperial is shockingly close in sound and playability.  If anything it's a slightly more versatile horn as you can light it up more easily than most Committees, yet the default vibe is still very intimate and mellow.
This particular example is totally straight, with zero dings or dents, and no evidence of any repair.  The valve action is superb, and the compression is excellent.  There's a really funky patina that I quite like (and now many top-end horns offer a "vintage" patina to mimic this look!), but if you want a shiny horn, just strip the remaining lacquer and polish it.
Josh Landress's shop cleaned and aligned the horn after I got it, and it's totally gig-ready.  With good Committees in the multi-thousands (and even bad ones!), the Imperial double-reverse vintage is a fantastic value.  This particular one is killer, and you'll love it.
No case or mouthpiece.  Please ask any questions well before auction's end.  Thanks for looking.
