    James Hillier (b. 1915 – d. 2007) was a Canadian-American scientist and inventor who designed and built the first electron microscope in North America in 1938.
    In 1944, James Hillier and Richard Baker built the first electron microanalyzer, which partnered an electron microscope with an energy-loss spectrometer for analyzing low atomic number elements.
