German (Prussian) geographer, naturalist and explorer. His quantitative work on botanical geography laid the foundation for the field of biogeography.
Handwritten envelope signed “AvHumboldt”. 5.75 x 4.75 inch, n.p., n.d. Addressed by Humboldt “Sr Wohlg Herr Dr. Gumprecht Buchhandlung von G. Reimer“. Verso with fine red wax seal. Slightly discolered, handling wear, else good condition. Thaddäus Eduard Gumprecht (1801-1856) was a geologist, mineralogist, and geographer.
