German (Prussian) geographer, naturalist and explorer. His quantitative work on botanical geography laid the foundation for the field of biogeography.
Autograph letter signed “AvHumboldt”. 5.5 x 8.5 inch, n.p., n.d. In German, in full: “David reist wahrscheinlich schon übermorgen ab, also flehe ich daß sie, theurer Freund, morgen Freitags um 4 Uhr (vier Uhr) bei mir essen.” Mailing folds, else fine condition.
