    Description

Ferdinand de Lesseps [1805 1894] was a French diplomat who developed the Suez Canal which in 1869 joined the
Mediterranean and Red Seas, substantially reducing sailing distances and times between Europe and East Asia. Lesseps attempted to repeat his success with an effort to build a Panama Canal at sea level during the 1880's, but the project was devastated by epidemics of malaria and yellow fever. Listed for auction is the autograph of Ferdinand de Lesseps signed on a page. The autograph is signed ''Ferdinand Lesseps'' in black fountain pen and the page measures 3.00 x 1.75 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition. The autograph is authentic, rare and is a nice example of this noted explorer. We have listed a nice collection of military, aviation, political and astronaut autographs.
