Manuscript letter from Edward Stanley, 15th Earl of Derby to Joseph Dalton Hooker regarding the Adelaide Jubilee Exhibition. Dated 1886. Signature and introduction in Derby's hand, body of letter is written by an assistant at the Colonial Office. An offer of a Royal Commission - with the Queen's blessing - for Hooker's assistance with the 1887 Australian Exhibition. Thick paper stock. A bit of scarring to reverse where the letter was tipped into a scrapbook.14" x 9" while unfolded.
