Chuck Tanner was a former player and manager in MLB. Chuck was a journeyman player for eight seasons, starting with the Milwaukee Braves in 1955. However, he is most noted for being the manager of the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves over 17 full seasons and the parts of two others. Chuck was noted for utter confidence and boundless optimism. He is probably best remembered for managing the Pirates to the 1979 World Series Championship over the favored Baltimore Orioles. His Pirates, known for adopting the Sister Sledge hit "We Are Family," came back against the Orioles after being down three games to one, to win the Series. This team epitomized the Tanner style of baseball; loose and aggressive. Chuck won 1352 games as a big league Manager. Sadly, Chuck passed away at the age of 82 in 2011.
This hat would be a special gift for any Pirates or MLB fan. It represents a piece of baseball history. If you have any questions, please let us know. Your satisfaction is always our main priority.
