Description
Unusual vintage printing block of baseball batter and catcher—batter hasjust swung, catcher stands looking towards outfield.
But why are baseball players framed inside a mortar and pestle the ancient symbol of cures and drugs? Was this a 1930s druggist advertising drugs or medicine for baseball players’ injuries (or performance)? Is simply playing the game of baseball a “cure” for daily woes?
This block is one of three printer blocks--each being sold separately—from the same estate all featuring different subjects framed inside a
mortar and pestle
.
Other subjects are a Halloween witch riding a broom and a man with paint brush holding a paint can.
This block is about 2½” tall; type high.
