Description
Vintage brass “THE CAPTAIN” 1 gallon fire extinguisher. The extinguisher was manufactured by The Fyr-Fyter Manufacturing Company, Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A. in the 1940s/50s. The front plaque is in good condition and shows an image of the bust of a Fire Captain. There is some wear and staining to the lacquer finish. I have not attempted to clean the extinguisher, however, if someone wanted to restore it, it would probably take a nice shine. There are some small dents on the right side of the extinguisher. It still retains the original hose with brass nozzle tip and brass foot bracket. The top handle is embossed with FYR-FYTER on the front and is stamped with the number 1740 on the back. The extinguisher measures ~ 20” tall to the top of the handle. The diameter of the body is ~ 4.5”. A nice piece of Firefighting History. It is Empty of pressure and contents.
