Boston won the first game 1-0 as Virgil Jester tossed a 3-hit shutout, then singled to drive in Eddie Mathews with the winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning. In the secong game, Jim Konstanty hurled a shutout as the Phillies earned a 4-0 victory. Richie Ashburn and Granny Hamner had 2 hits each.
