    Description

1755 Canada American Beaver Token Very Scarce Betts-390 NICE
This is a very tough to get token with direct North American connection. It is listed as Betts-390. He describes is as follows:
Obv. LUD. XV. REX CHRISTIANISS. Under decollation f / m in script. Bust of Louis in lion's skin, to the right; hair tied with a bow.
Rev. NON VILIUS AUREO. In exergue, COL. FRANC, DE | LAM. 1755. (Not less valuable than the golden: i. e., the peltry of the beavers was not less to be desired than the golden fleece sought by Jason, to which the galley alludes.) Ancient galley, from the top of which hangs a beaver pelt.
Nice medium grade piece (see photos and judge for yourself). This token is one of the key North American issues from the 18th century struck during the French-Indian War that circulated in Canada and upstate New York.
